Here you will find original artworks by Artist Muller Jean Francois. Jean Francois is a professional, world known artist that is trusted world wide, dedicated to doing haitian artwork and preferring panoramic, countryside and landscape. Recently he started experimenting with abstract and impressionism. Muller is also an art collector and approaches his art through positivity. Jean Muller began to work in acrylics and oils, preferring a primitive approach to painting. His favorite colors are red, yellow, blue, and green. All of the pieces of art on this site are for sale. If you are intrested in purchasing any of these paintings, you may order on line using a credit card or let us know what pieces you are intrested in by email. Your request will be answered promptly. You can also leave your thoughts and comments in our guestbook. We hope you enjoy our site.

All together now! –––"Are we not men? We are Nada!"

My number one desire is to make a comfy living from the sale of my art. I made these paintings, but I don't wanna keep them. It'd be nice to make a living from doing the thing I'm best at.
I found out years ago that in order to do this, I must involve others in what I'm doing; inevitably, I concluded, they will involve me in what they're doing too. This is what happened in January of '07 as Jeff Johnson, Tova Ramos, Dianna SionCallender, Esther Triggs and Ann O'Lear invited me to join them in the Dada Motel schemes. The thing quickly took off but we've had to work at it and many more people have joined in, helping in their own ways. It's an artist thing and that means nothing in particular, so we're searching to find out what we've got here, who we've got here.
We've got 50 motel rooms filled so far, and it's in Reno; that much we know.
There's this large unique local community of creative types here and our groups compliment each other. If each group focuses its efforts to reinforcing what the other groups are doing/making, we will be able to shout with one loud voice. We're making some noise and calling some attention to our own efforts. This is done better when it's not just us saying "hey look at us", this goes for groups of artists and individual artists alike. We do our part to promote each other and everybody's happy.
I'm lookin' for unity, I'm lookin' for creativity, and mostly I just want everyone to know that this event was wholly created by artists. The artists worked together to bring you this and here we are–luvv us.
We artists types are notoriously known to be loner individuals and iconoclasts. That's o.k. It's just that all of these grunting individualists need to realize the importance of applying our own creativity to promotional efforts. Maybe this is what being an artist is– a lot of grunting and calling attention to ourselves. Whatever works. We gotta' have an audience!
Arts education/appreciation drops at alarming rates in public institutions and the funding dwindles that supports these efforts. You and I both know that art is more than drawing, drumming or crying on cue. Art is in the lives that we lead everyday but not everyone has been so fortunate, they don't understand the benefits. The creative life–itself–is an art compared to the life that most live. We must share our talents/fears/observations/obsessions and bring these 'others' in to our world.
Too many people are waiting for something to happen and are meanwhile making nothing happen. I like to do things the hard way myself, and it's always given me good practice for the easy stuff.
Nada Motel asks a lot from participants as did Dada Motel and that's how it works so well and efficiently.
A fact of life is that 'nothing succeeds without personal sacrifice' and isn't that how it SHOULD be? We do more than is asked of us, and it doesn't go unnoticed–but results are not instant. GIVING is what art does; eventually it has to given back to.
A question to ask our selves is "Why include anyone else in my plans to achieve artistic fame?" And a second question would be "As an artist, do I need fame?"
As we all know, art is not made in a vacuum, successful art involves many people; many people to promote and many people to appreciate. The beautiful thing is that the promoters and the appreciators are the same people, and so it grows.
Finally, as artists, all that we need to know is that people need to see what we make/do.... and there's no better time to show them than NOW!
Hit the press, tell them what's brewin'–make noise, period. Reno is loud, Reno is proud and you don't wanna be left behind!

All together now!

Hello folks! Come to my opening happening this Tuesday in downtown LA! Here's the details:

ANIMALS of the FUTURE
A solo show by Treiops Treyfid at MJ Higgins Gallery

Opening reception Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 6 - 9pm.

MJ Higgins Gallery
400 S. Main st. Suite 103 (4th st. east of Main), Los Angeles, CA 90013
213-617-1700
http://treiops.com/art/animals_of_the_future.html

Features performance by LA electronic outfit Brain Garden http://www.klownhead.com

All exotic animals on our planet are under threat of extinction because of loss of habitat due to pollution, global warming, and human population growth. Fragile ecosystems are in serious peril all over the world and will pay a heavy price from the increased storms, floods, and coastal erosion that global warming will produce.

So, who are the critters that will survive the coming catastrophe? They will be the ones that are able to live with or near humans, can live in an urban or semi-urban environment, and use human garbage as a food source. These are the "Animals of the Future". They include raccoons, opossums, rats, roaches, crows, coyotes, squirrels, sparrows, pigeons, deer, seagulls, lizards, rabbits, skunk, chipmunks, mice, feral cats, stray dogs, and many other species.

The pieces in this show will highlight and tribute these overlooked noble survivors that live sometimes literally in our own backyards. The pieces are sculptural in nature and are made out of mostly recycled elements but also include exotic materials, and lighting.

I can't manage to handle the lengths not to mention hold them together to get them through the eye. When I finally do- they all seem to separate and I can't hold them to knot them off.
What is the process you go through to create your art?
Do you meticulously sketch outlines / studies?

I have been told by some, that good planning is necessary, but I just seem to enjoy looking at a blank canvas and watching it develop.
I have bought a number of sketchbooks, and usually before a new project, I sketch a brief outline, but for some reason, it changes / morphs into something completely different once I begin on the canvas.

Calling ALL Artists For The 4th Annual Art Outside Brouhaha! March 6th – 16th 2008.
To take part in AO|08 Go Here- http://www.artoutside.org/

Ladies and gentlemen of the art world, we are seeking any and all creative humans who use their skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others. That is, we are looking for those whose life is art, and everything they do is DIY. We are searching for those who are creating the Hand-Made Nation. We are calling !ALL! make-believers, dreamers and reality re-arrangers. We are searching hi and low for lowbrow-urban-contemporary-pop-surrealism, pop art, op art, hard-edge, lyrical abstraction, post minimalism, which might be interpreted by some to mean that we are looking only for painters, but that is most definitely not the case. For you see, of course, we need masters of typography, sketchers, illustrators, satirical stencilers, screen printing is way cool, and yes, you too, graffiti fools. Least we forget every culture jammer in the hood. Do you manipulate earth/land/sand/plants/junk into art? Then we have a home for you.

Now, we know some of you may be thinking “What about Dadas’ Dadaists, though?” To this we say, but of course we are calling all inspired by DADA- for where would art be without fluxists, productivism, neoplasticism, pittura, metafisica, arbeitsrat and bauhaus. Well, we are looking for all of “you” from then and now, if any of you still are around. And one may wonder… What about the cubists? We say, “But of course.” Conceptualists? Indeed. Installationists? Please! One might ask if we are seeking anything that might fall under postmodernist modernist who are not distracted by abstractionists and other IST’S. Of course there is always impressionism, post-minimalism, pre-contemporaryism, and expressionism. Are you working in symbolism or surrealism or any of the other -isms that we have not yet mentioned? Well come on out. But wait that’s not all, that could not possibly be all this call for ARTE is all about? Well, Dali you’re right,

This call goes out to all kinetic sculptors, fire sculptors, sound artists bending invisible waves, and video projectionists playing with light. We must invite the minds of the poets and their spoken slam voices, along with improv comedians who mimic the true history of time. Or was that the klown? How can we forget about the klowns! Mimes? Performers “performing” art, puppeteers with their puppets, musicians making sounds. Oh, and least we forget outsider artists wanting to be outside.

In short, we invite all the conceivable movements, modes, and theories of art known to wo/man kind. We say to you, the Artisans of the world who wish to unite because the world needs ART, because the world’s not right. It is time, Your window of opportunity is now. Our space is your blank canvas. Your dreams are our inspiration. You and your art are invited to take part in this epic artistic endeavor.

The world may be going to hell… So let’s make some art.
My work is featured in this awesome book, Buy yours today $45 +tax SH from www.joemangrum.com and get a signed copy (personalized if you include your name etc. Its a very timely topic , climate change, funny how nobody is asking about it to our presidential hopefuls??
lets get the word out on climate change!

heres the details

In the environmental realm, science and art are inextricably linked. While science determines how we measure the health of our planet, art allows us to visualize our relationship to the natural world. Art in Action collects creative interpretations of the state of out planet in word and image by seventy-nine artists. These varied pieces express a profound appreciation for all species and landscapes, explore our natural world lost, despaired and reconstructed and describe the fantasy of paradises anew and gone awry.

From the expansive vision of Christo to the enlightened power of Olafur Eliasson, the art speaks to us in as many ways as there are artists. Each chapter asks us to celebrate, reflect, interact, protect and act, demonstrating the vast and rich web of life and the interconnectedness of it all. No book can change the natural world. But these stories and photographs can build awareness, the first critical step in changing our collective story from one that exploits and destroys nature for the benefit of humankind to one that nurtures and values the natural world.

Mia Hanak is the Founding Executive Director of the Natural World Museum, an organization committed to inspiring sustainable culture through the arts in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She leads the team that produces the innovative Art for the Environment global exhibition series. She has been nominated by the American Association of Museums as a ?Museum Leader for the Next Generation.? She currently resides in San Francisco.

Randy Rosenberg is an artist and has also curated many art collections for international organizations including The World Bank, the International Finance Corporation and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Her traveling exhibitions include: The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama and Envisioning Change; Attitudinal and Climate.

At a little place called Pigeon Park in West Seattle, I arrived with the rain around 9am. I parked in the empty school lot and walked passed the gate to take a winding trail deep into the woods. Along the way I spotted cans, bottles, hunks of metal shrapnel, plastic bags, all those things we humans leave behind. Things out of place. I started gathering these objects together. Two lawn chairs half buried in mud became the base of my sculpture. A long bent metal pipe covered in moss formed an arcing gesture towards the sky. A green hose and a black cord settled in a tangled mass atop the red and white umbrella. A bag of dog shit hung from a spire. As the volunteers arrived, they gazed in wonder at the hulking monstrosity that I had collected with my own two hands. As the entertainment for volunteers working to eradicate invasive species, I was doing something very outside the box. Taking action by cleaning up trash, I felt like a genuine activist today, and more than that, I made a sculpture out of it that amused a variety of people and got them all thinking. Now what is art?
Marcel Duchamp challenged all artists and all human beings to consider that and I find this question still relevant today. For to me, art is anything that is wrought by our hand. Any two or more objects placed together within the same vicinity is a construction, a sculpture. It is certainly true that no matter how ya stack it, trash is still trash. Paint is still paint and I still love it but 2D is SO boring compared to the real experience of real life and real action, regardless of all talk. My povery has forced me to be resourceful and become the scavenging scoundrel that I am today, a ruthless recycler who still doesnt know how to price a work of art because if everything has meaning and means nothing. These days I stand in my spot at Pike Place Market and transform before people's eyes, become the sculpture, dance into the future, remind someone of something or someday or someway they were or could be or never would want to be. It is almost enough to see a child smile through all my efforts, all that waiting in the performer's que for a chance to do my thing. It is somehow degrading to be counting on that single dollar to float into that beatup old straw hat, but at the same time it is so empowering to see the light in those kids' eyes when I pop up on their radar all in white clothes with a white hat, weilding white painted computer parts and colored art cardboard boxes morphing onto my body.
What is Art? What am I trying to say?
What are you trying to say? Is anything worth being said?
I believe so.

Shrinking water supplies, partched crops, food riots, flooded cities, crashed economy, coastline incursion. Where do we fit in? The gallery system will most certainly collapse.

The show will run from October through December 2007 and there will be a Gala Opening on Sunday, Oct 21, from 3pm - 6pm.

For several years now I have been shooting the fabulous and gorgeous live models who grace the front windows of the Dark Garden Corsetry, (http://darkgarden.com), booth at the Dickens Fair, (http://dickensfair.com). I occasionally take a paraphelia shot - a picture of a boot, or a glove or the like.

In fall of 2006, I walked up to the window to shoot a picture of a model's boot, (and her single tail whip), and what with standing not two feet away from her, albeit separated by a pane of glass, I found myself embarrassed to be so obviously shooting her boot.

I noticed my embarrassment, backed up for a few seconds, and then proceeded to shoot the boot anyway. But the experience got me to thinking about how it's socially acceptable to shoot some parts of a person but not other parts and how shooting certain parts can be perceived as offensive.

So I challenged myself to take at least one shot of each model that did not include her eyes. The photographs included in this show are the result of that self challenge.

At CELLSpace we will have an art show in the gallery, puppetry and sewing workshops in the loft, musicians, free drinks and food, and panel discussions. The discussions will revolve around the ideas of producing arts, media, and change from a non-profit and for-profit perspective. What are the benefits of each format? How can artists navigate the world between the two for maximum freedom and maximum funding? Bay Area heavies from both sides of the fence will discuss why they have chosen the structure that they have and how they use it to get what they want.

I am starting to organize a story that is a morality play or sorts for my 6 year old Godson, whom I coparent. It will include a yound man setting off in the world and encountering archetypal beings and situations that engage him and end up teaching him somthing essential about living a fulfilling life. the main character will be discussing these situations and beings with a wise person from time to time. I am an artist. You can see some of my work on my profile pics. I will be doing a photo shoot (B&W infrareds) for every chapter in the story. I will be compiling the story and images into a small, hand bound book. I'l make about 100 editions of the book.

What I need help on is the story:
* What do you think the most important things are to learn and integrate to live a fulfilling life?
* What are the best ways to deal with disapointment and loss, with death?
* What are the most essential archetypal situations that teach us the most about living a fulfilling life?
* What archetypal characters teach us the most about living a connected, passionate, and loving life?
* What situations would you create to teach the main Character the foundations of a connected, passionate, and loving life?

Any ideas will be most appreciated.
I thought you all might be interested in watching this free independent film that showcases a couple from New York who only communicated through art, and mail art, during their entire relationship. Four Eyed Monsters, I am sure some of you have heard of it through the indie circuit, is full of beautiful animation and aesthetically pleasing editing techniques that make me appreciate it for that alone! It is a prime example of th DIY spirit that exists behind independent features.

It will only be up (for free) for a week here: http://foureyedmonsters.com/watch/

So check it out, read all about their story and if you become a huge fan, buy the film through the “Buy DVDs/Downloads” link.
It is goes directly to a good cause- getting the filmmakers out of debt and supporting the indie art community! enjoy!

Hey all you painters and photographers out there. I have a question about the use of copyright images for source material for a painting.

I'm a painter. Normally, I paint for me, so there's no copyright issues to worry about, but I've done a couple of paintings that a local gallery has contacted me about and the source material was copyright photography- one image I took from online, another image I got from one of the models, even though the copyright is owned by the photographer. In both instances, there was a conversation in which I stated honestly "I'm not trying to make any money off this, I just want to paint it". Obviously things have changed with the phone call from the gallery (and yeah, I know they have to actually SELL before there's any issue, but I'm optimistic). No, I haven't changed any of the content of the photography, just translated the medium to oil paint, and not in a truly photo-realistic manner.

Can I use copyright source imagery for paintings that are going to be sold, even if the painting looks substantially like the source photograph? What if the source photo was black & white, while the painting was in full color? I KNOW I've seen paintings where famous photographs had been used for the source imagery (like the little Vietnamese girl covered in burns, running from her napalmed village). Did these painters seek "copyright permission"? Did they just decide to paint and that's all there is to it? Does the different medium mean that copyright doesn't apply? Should I even give a shit- say "so sue me"?

I have no intention of "stealing" from the photographers, but while I had no expectation of selling these two paintings when I started them, I felt inspired to paint using their specific work for my source images. Is there anyone here who knows the law here (I'm in California if it makes any difference)? Is there court precedence?

Thanks.

I've spoken to a number of the other artists included in the book and they are all just as equally excited. It is truely inspirational to see so many wonderful artists creating works of such quality and power.
